How Ratings Climbed From Undisputed 3 to UFC 5
7 editions · 2010–2013 to 2025–present · average overall 81.4 → 84.6
Averaged across every fighter rated in a given edition, every one of the eight attributes in 25-0 is higher today than it was in UFC Undisputed 3 (2010–2013). Some of that is real: the sport's overall skill level has risen over fifteen years, and later editions of the dataset draw from a UFC roster that trains, cuts weight and game-plans differently than the one from 2010–2013. Some of it is the shape of the pool changing — later editions include more fighters who were already established stars by the time they were rated, which pulls the average up on its own.
The attribute that moved the most is Kickboxing, up 5.6 points on average from UFC Undisputed 3 to UFC 6. The one that moved the least is Strength, up only 2.0 — a reminder that physical attributes tend to track the athlete more than the era, while skill-based ones like striking and fight IQ move with the evolution of the sport itself.

What this means for a draft
Spinning into a later edition doesn't hand you a stronger build by default — the game samples five fighters per spin regardless of era, and a strong 2012 card still beats a weak 2023 one. But it does explain a pattern players sometimes notice: builds assembled entirely from recent editions tend to run a point or two higher on average than builds spread across the full fifteen-year span, purely because the underlying pool has drifted upward. That drift is intentional and tracked, not a bug — see how the ratings are made for the full methodology.
