Piston jabs, tactical discipline, and standing elbows made Rory "The Red King" MacDonald a complete mixed martial artist. Born in Quesnel, British Columbia, and refined at Tristar Gym under Firas Zahabi, MacDonald battled Robbie Lawler at UFC 189 before capturing the Bellator World Title with wins over Woodley, Maia, and Lima, his stamina driving an 86 Overall score.

MacDonald emerged as a top welterweight talent between 2011 and 2013, dominating Nate Diaz with suplexes in Toronto, defeating BJ Penn across three rounds in Seattle, and out-pointing Jake Ellenberger in Seattle while dropping a split decision to Robbie Lawler at UFC 167 in Las Vegas. His jab, distance management, and takedown control are reflected in an 85 Boxing and 86 Wrestling.
In 2014, MacDonald dismantled Demian Maia in Las Vegas, dominated Tyron Woodley over three rounds in Vancouver, and knocked out Tarec Saffiedine in Halifax to earn a title shot. At UFC 189 in July 2015, he engaged Robbie Lawler in a Fight of the Year bout, nearly finishing Lawler before getting stopped in round five. MacDonald fought Stephen Thompson across five rounds in Ottawa in June 2016, dropping a unanimous decision in a striking chess match before signing with Bellator MMA to capture the welterweight world championship.
