Brandon Moreno submitted Deiveson Figueiredo with a rear-naked choke at UFC 263 in June 2021 to become the UFC's first Mexican-born flyweight champion. Fighting out of Tijuana, Mexico, "The Assassin Baby" built his career through a four-fight series with Figueiredo and technical growth in his boxing and grappling. Released by the UFC in 2018 after losses to Sergio Pettis and Alexandre Pantoja, Moreno won the LFA flyweight title and returned to the Octagon in late 2019, fighting Askar Askarov to a split draw and defeating Kai Kara-France at UFC 245 in Las Vegas. His scramble grappling and durable striking are reflected in an 85 Boxing and 92 Cardio rating.
Moreno stopped Jussier Formiga and Brandon Royval before fighting Deiveson Figueiredo to a majority draw at UFC 256 in December 2020. In June 2021 at UFC 263, he submitted Figueiredo with a rear-naked choke to win the UFC Flyweight Championship in Glendale.
