Returning to the UFC at light heavyweight in 2014, Johnson dismantled Phil Davis at UFC 172, knocked out Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in 44 seconds in San Jose, and flattened Alexander Gustafsson in round one in Stockholm to earn a title shot against Daniel Cormier at UFC 187, followed by a knockout of Jimi Manuwa at UFC 191.
