Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Jorge Masvidal moved permanently to welterweight in 2016 after a decade split largely between lightweight and featherweight. At 170 from 2016 to 2023, his Boxing rating climbed from 84 to a peak of 86; the flying knee that finished Ben Askren at UFC 239 set the UFC record for fastest knockout in promotional history, and the following bout against Nate Diaz at UFC 244 produced the inaugural BMF Championship.
